Our Founder

The mother of Invention

30 Years Later

A Family of Doers

At Leatherman, we’re a group of fixers, outdoor enthusiasts, former service members, adventure seekers and just plain doers. And we know our products will stand the test of time because we count on them ourselves every day. Our mission is to inspire and prepare Leatherman owners for the expected – and unexpected – that inevitably will come their way. Every multi-tool and knife we ship out the door is crafted by one of the 700 Oregonians who call Leatherman a great place to work, and we stand behind our products with a no-questions-asked 25 year warranty.

The birth of a multi-tool

We invite you to see firsthand where your Leatherman tool was crafted at one of our weekly tours, or view our timeline of tools right here on our website. We’re proud to live and work in the USA and it shows in every multi-tool and knife we make. Leatherman. Leave nothing undone.

The PST is the original Leatherman tool. Packs a dozen essential tools into one compact package. Continual improvements have enhanced screwdriver performance and added a hard-wire cutting notch. Comes in standard or black finishes and a cap-crimper model. Tim Leatherman’s original invention is as handy as ever. (Retired 2004)

1986: MINI TOOL

The Mini-Tool is the world’s smallest multipurpose tool with full-size, full-strength pliers. Our unique folding handle design makes both comfort and small size possible. 1994: SUPER TOOL

The Super Tool® is the biggest, strongest multi-purpose tool in our line. Leatherman’s most popular keychain tool is now America’s most celebrated! Introducing the special-edition Leatherman Micra with a commemorative stars and stripes design. Spring-action scissors and 9 additional, easy-to-use tools make this a must-have accessory.

1998: WAVE – ORIGINAL

Wave has more features than any other Leatherman and offers easy access to four locking blades without opening the tool. The interior is loaded with seven additional tool blades. 1999: CRUNCH

Vise grip pliers that fold away make the Leatherman Crunch unlike any multi-tool available today. The Crunch clamps up to a 1-inch diameter pipe, and if you remove the adjusting screw, you’ll find a hex-bit adapter built right in. With locking blades that release with the push of a button, the Crunch will take a bite out of any job.

2000: PULSE

Pulse makes things simple and safe with every blade easily locked and released. Just slide back the lock release on the outside of the handle. We’ve combined popular features, comfortable handles, and our most popular 4″ size into an all-around winner. (Retired 2004)

2001: SUPER TOOL 200

We’ve upgraded the classic Super Tool to include rounded handles and a sliding lock release on the outside for easy access. The serrated knife blade is rounded at the tip for safety. The Super Tool 200 is ideal for professional users. (Retired 2006)

2002: SQUIRT P4

The Leatherman Wave multi-tool is hands down our most popular model, made famous by its outside-accessible blades that can be deployed with just one hand. Perfect for any job, adventure, or everyday task, the Wave multi-tool is an international best-seller.

2005: SURGE

The Leatherman Surge is one of our two largest multi-tools; a real powerhouse, built with our largest pliers, longest multi-tool blades and easy-to-use locks. 2006: HYBRID

Whether you’re maintaining a garden or a trail, the Leatherman Hybrid pruner multi-tool puts convenience and a whole lot more at your fingertips. At a mere five ounces, the Leatherman Skeletool has a stainless steel combo blade, pliers, bit driver, removable pocket clip and carabiner/bottle opener. The Skeletool is just what you need in one good lookin’ package.

2009: SUPER TOOL 300

The award-winning, Leatherman Super Tool 300 is the multi-tool for the working man. Larger pliers are the strongest we’ve ever produced and the sloped-top handle design means you can maneuver them further into tight spaces. When you’re working with gloves on, the large side cutouts make it easy to still grab components and rolled handles make for a comfortable grip. Stranded, hard and regular wire cutters all come standard on Super Tool 300, and because they’re removable you can repair or re-sharpen on the spot. 19 tools all ready for your toughest jobs. Super Tool 300 is back from vacation and ready to get to work.

2010: MUT

The Leatherman MUT is the first multi-tool that functions as both a tactical and practical tool for military, LE, or civilian shooters. The MUT features multiple areas on the tool threaded for cleaning rods and brushes and all the screwdriver bits are sized for standard military and civilian sighting adjustment work. Also built into the design of the tool is the flexibility to replace the most commonly used parts on the spot, using a simple Torx #8, keeping down-time to a minimum. With all this, a MOLLE sheath and scope adjustment wrench included, the Leatherman MUT may very well be the most efficient and useful piece in your kit.

2011: STYLE PS

The handy Style PS is one unique, travel-friendly, multi-tool. With spring-action pliers, a file, scissors, tweezers, bottle opener and mini-screwdriver, you’ll never be without your most necessary tools; now even when you travel! Fits in a pocket or clips on your pack or bag for easy portability. So stylish it’s almost a shame it fits so easily in your pocket.

2012: BREWZER

The Brewzer has been designed to pop the top on your favorite beverage in just one try, making it the only keychain bottle opener you’ll ever need. The multi-purpose flat tip also acts as a mini pry tool. Made from high-grade, heat-treated stainless steel, the Brewzer fits perfectly on your keychain split ring (through the beer-bottle-shaped hole) or in your pocket.

2013: HAIL

Designed to crank on a binding, open a beer, tune your board or stash your ear buds, the Leatherman Hail snowboard tool was a joint effort between our tool engineers and the Signal Snowboard® designers. We worked to fit quick-fix features and cool extras into a lightweight tool that clips onto your belt, pack or jacket. So go ahead clip ‘em on and put ‘em to the test, these travel-friendly (yup they’re TSA-compliant) Portland, Oregon originals are built to last.
